I have lived in California most of my life. I learned how to snow ski at Lake Tahoe. My oldest, dearest friend’s family owns a cabin there, and my family would go there often to ski and play in the snow. My friend, Christine, and I decided to drag a wooden toboggan up a hill behind the cabin and sled down. It was a ride of a lifetime and one I will never ever forget. Sledding down, so fast, having to lean left, then right, to avoid all the trees. It was incredible that we made it down without crashing into a tree. We laughed hysterically the whole ride. Such fun with a toboggan.
Then I met Jack, my son in law. Jack is from a small town in South Carolina. His family and my son, Matt became good friends while Matt played for the Carolina Panthers. Several years later Jack, and my daughter Samantha began dating while Jack was living in SC and Samantha in CA. We, (Sam and Jack and my husband and I) decided to go to a Kansas City Chiefs game the year Matt signed to be Pat Mahomes backup quarterback, and we decided on the Chiefs – Packers game. At the stadium we went through the store and Jack said he was gonna buy Sam a toboggan. What? A toboggan? Why? That’s when I learned that he meant a toboggan, as in a beanie, a cap. That made sense. I’m not sure why they call beanies – toboggans in the South. Southerners also call shopping carts buggies. 🙃

Here are a couple of beanies or toboggans I have made:
